IT’S NOT GALLERY

Address/Place: Industri at Tirana e re, close to sheshi Wilson

It’s Not Gallery is a joint production between Industri and T.I.C.A – Tirana Institute of Contemporary Art.  The inspiration comes from a desire to start a new “space” where art is not used for decorative purposes – attribute of the usual coffee bar in Tirana – but rather to grasp the attention of the monotone coffee drinker with notable and surprising details.  It aims to open a “channel” of thought and reflection into the sleepy minds or lethargic conversations.  It’s Not a Gallery not only “assists” the artist with a new platform to exhibit his/her work but transcends into the traditional exhibition boundaries by pulling the art from the gallery borders and placing it into a direct contact with the public.  Through It’s Not A Gallery series, Industri will be hosting new art installations and contemporary artistic events on quarterly basis.  In coordination with TICA, Industri will be accompanying the events with a sequence of talks, presentations or performances from the artists.

The first edition of It’s Not Gallery presents parts of the installation of Sadik Spahia "Under Pressure" and the trilogy "Architecture of Sadness" from Ermela Teli.  This edition is curated by Edi Muka.

UNDER PRESSURE

The first installation at Industri under the series It’s Not Gallery, it’s part of Sadik Spahia’s installation called Under Pressure (2011).  Resembling an infamous, perverse and abandoned lab, Under Pressure is not simply a composition a sculpture objects; it rather transforms the entire space into a work of art.  The collection of black and white images as groups of people under authority, metal aprons, chemistry beakers and test tubes which suggests that the lab not only is un-abandoned one but live and functioning.  Unconsciously we may all be the actual or next Ginnie pigs.

Under Pressure is not a reflection of the past – it is an outcry of the present, an eye-opening call about a pressure exercised under a matrix of a system that hides through a misleading glamour and a call to wake-up from the nightmare of this infamous lab where self-proclaimed gods are expecting to entertain with our lymph.

ARCHITECTURE OF SADNESS

The short film Architecture of Sadness is divided into three chapters, happening during three different time periods.  By moving the camera into the space of these distinct narratives, the viewer sees the film as “architecture of emotions” and a mental social experience instead of seeing architecture as a collection of physical buildings.  The film starts with the Rozafa legend, where a woman’s body reduces into an object of sacrifice and moves into the dictatorship period where the object of sacrifice now has grown into the entire society.  The trilogy ends with the Transition, which is the subject of Architecture of Sadness.  The camera follows crowds of people proceeding into a space without a sense or purpose resembling a body without a mind.  The series of events is therefore a narrative that is again dominated by betrayal, sacrifice and loneliness, three elements that constantly hit the conscious of a human and society.

NUK ESHTE GALERI

Nuk Është Galeri është një ndërmarrje e përbashkët e ndërtuar në bashkëpunim mes Industri dhe T.I.C.A – Instituti i Artit Bashkëkohor, Tiranë.  Kjo ndërmarrje bazohet mbi dëshirën për të krijuar një hapësirë të re, një hapësirë ku arti nuk kufizohet nga funksioni i thjeshtë e i pakuptimtë dekorativ, sic mund të haset në cdo kafene apo bar në Tiranë, por synon të ndalë vështrimin pavëmendshëm të shikuesit në detaje mbresëlënëse që hapin mundësi për mendim e reflektim në trurin e fjetur të kafexhinjve.  Nuk Është Galeri është më shumë një platformë e përbashkët që nga një anë i ofron artiste/ëve një mundësi më shumë për të ekspozuar punën e tyre, dhe nga ana tjetër kapërcen kufijtë konvencionalë duke e nxjerrë artin nga hapësira e galerisë dhe duke e sjellë në kontakt të drejtpërdrejtë me publikun.  Në këtë kuadër, Industri do të vazhdojë të ofrojë instalime dhe ngjarje me vepra artiste/ësh në një interval të rregullt tremujor. Këto do të shoqërohen nga një numur bisedash, inaugurimesh apo performancash nga artiste/ë të ftuar në bashkëpunim me TICA.

Edicioni i pare i Nuk Eshte Galeri paraqet pjese nga instalacioni i Sadik Spahise "Nen Trysni" dhe triologjine filmike "Arkitektura e Trishtimit" nga Ermela Teli.  Ky edicion eshte kuruar nga Edi Muka.

NEN TRYSNI

Instalacioni i parë i paraqitur në mjediset e Industri është i përbërë nga pjesë të instalacionit të Sadik Spahisë, me titull Nën Trysni (2011). Me përngjasime ndaj një laboratori të braktisur e pervers, Nën Trysni nuk është thjesht një objekt skulpturor, por një përpjekje për të transformuar vetë hapësirën në një vepër arti. Prania e imazheve bardhë e zi me kolektiva njerëzish nën urdhër, përparëset e hekurta, qelqet dhe epruvetat dhe objektet e tjera, na sugjerojnë se ndoshta laboratori në fjalë nuk është i braktisur por ende në funksion, dhe se ne, në mënyrë të pavetëdijshme mund të jemi kaviet e nënshtruara të eksperimentit të rradhës.  Nen Trysni nuk është aspak një reflektim mbi të kaluarën, por një thirrje për të tashmen, për syhapjen ndaj trysnisë së matricës së sistemit që fshihet pas shkëlqimit të rremë, dhe për zgjimin nga makthi i laboratorit famëkeq, ku zotat e vetëshpallur presin të argetohen me limfën tonë.

ARKITEKTURA E TRISHTIMIT

Filmi Arkitektura e Trishtimit eshte nje subjekt i ndare  ne tre kapituj , ku pershkruhen tre periudha  te ndryshme kohore.  Permes levizjes se kameras ne hapesiren e narrativave te ndryshme,  shikuesi perjeton nje arkitekture te emocionit dhe te psikes shoqerore, ne vend te leximit te arkitektures thjesht si ndertese fizike. Nga legjenda e Rozafes, ku trupi i gruas reduktohet ne objekt sakrifice, tregimi kalon tek periudha e diktatures, ku tashme objekt i sakrifices esht bere trupi i perbashket shoqeror.  Trilogjia mbyllet me Tranzicionin, kapitullin e fundit qe perben subjektin e Arkitektures se Trishtimit.  Tani syri i kameres ndjek turma individesh qe levizin ne hapesire pa qellim e kuptim, si nje trup i madh i pakrye, duke percjelle  ate qe manifestohet ne nje kompleksitet ngjarjesh bazuar po ne tradhti, sakrifikim dhe vetmi, tre elemente qe godasin ndergjegjen e nje individi apo te nje shoqerie.
